the world is arguably more different now than it has ever been before. three years into a global pandemic, pregnant people, birthing people, and new parents have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19 restrictions because of how medicalized pregnancy & childbirth have become over the past century. in the US and Europe, only about 1% of births take place in the home, and the vast majority of pregnant people are followed by a medically-trained care provider throughout pregnancy. as such, regular office/hospital visits are par for the course, yet in a COVID world, this has become increasingly difficult to do safely. we’ve watched as the new normal in many facilities has become solo prenatal appointments and, in the worst cases, solo childbirth and immediate postpartum as well. no partners, no loved ones, no doulas, no chosen support team.

BUT SUPPORT IS AS NEEDED & VITAL AS EVER.

so, to adjust to changing times, i am happy to include virtual doula support services in a number of ways.
